Set up chat and concierge
Updated
Chat puts a Chat button on your guest pages. Guests leave their name, email, and phone, then message you. Your team or your AI concierge answers from the Chats page.
Turn chat on
- Go to Chats.
- Click the settings (gear) button at the bottom of the conversation list.
- Under Widget, turn on Show chat on your pages.
- Choose whether guests can send pictures with Let guests send images.
Changes save on their own. The button now shows on your public events page and event pages.
To add it to your own website:
- Go to Settings → Widget and choose the Chat tab.
- Pick Bottom right or Bottom left, Dark or Light, and a button color.
- Copy the code and paste it before the closing body tag, or in your site builder's custom code area. See Embed on your website.
The color is part of the code, so copy it again after you change it.
Your web address has to be approved before chat will work there. Send it to us through Support in the dashboard. Chat on your VenueStack pages works right away and needs no approval.
Set up the AI concierge
The concierge answers questions, shares your menus and events, checks table availability, and hands the chat to your team when needed. It only knows published events and uploaded menus. See Venue details and menus.
- In the chat settings, under Concierge, turn on Answer with AI.
- Type a Name. If you leave the default, guests see your venue name followed by "Concierge".
- Under Replies first, choose Concierge to reply straight away, or Your team to have new chats wait for you.
- Open What it knows about you and fill in the boxes in plain sentences. The venue, What you offer, and Reservations matter most.
- Under Common questions, write one question per line, split by a vertical bar:
Do you have a dress code? | Smart casual.
Everything here saves on its own. Leave a box empty and the concierge will say it does not know.
Good to know
- It hands over when a guest asks for a person or raises a complaint, safety, legal, or payment issue. Guests can also tap Speak to Human. The chat then shows as Requesting.
- If a chat waits for your team and no one joins within about 2 minutes, the concierge steps in.
- The chat button doesn't appear inside embedded calendar or event widgets. Add the chat code separately.
- If the button shows on your own website but a guest's message never sends, the web address is most likely not approved yet. Send us the address through Support.
