How offline mode works
Updated
When the wifi drops at the door, VenueStack keeps working on the phones you already have open. Guests still get in, tables still move, and every change is saved on the phone until it can be sent. There is nothing to turn on.
Before doors open
- Open VenueStack while you're online, on each phone or tablet you'll use tonight.
- Leave it open for a minute. Tonight's tickets, passes, and floor download by themselves and stay up to date while you're online.
- Tap Sync to check. It shows how many tickets are ready to scan offline.
A phone that hasn't opened VenueStack online today has nothing to work from.
What works offline
| Area | Works offline | Needs a connection |
|---|---|---|
| Tickets | Scanning, Find a guest | Tickets bought after the list downloaded, Mark as Scanned |
| Passes | Scanning, Find a guest | Admit anyway, passes bought or changed since |
| Tables | Arrivals, guest counts, seating, moving, Complete, Notes, New Reservation, Details (read-only) | Swaps, canceling, reopening, deposits, payments, and the log |
Everything else, such as events, reports, and settings, needs a connection. A page you open offline waits and loads once you're back online.
When you're back online
Everything saved on the phone sends by itself, and Sync shows the progress. Anything that couldn't be sent, for example because another phone changed the same reservation, shows under Needs attention. See Check the Sync status.
Good to know
- If VenueStack was closed and opens with no connection, it opens as a simple door scanner. See Check guests in offline.
- Logging out while check-ins are still waiting asks first. If you tap Sign out, they stay on the phone and send the next time someone from your venue logs in there while online.
- Logging out removes tonight's guest list and floor from the phone.
