Check guests in offline

Updated

Tonight's tickets and passes are saved on each phone while it's online, so the scanner keeps working when the internet drops or slows down. You scan the same way as always. See Check guests in.

Scan with no connection

  1. Open the scanner and scan as usual.
  2. A good ticket or pass shows Admitted with Saved offline. Syncs when you reconnect. Let the guest in.

Passes keep their entry limits offline. A second scan of the same ticket on the same phone shows Already checked in. A code the phone doesn't know, such as a ticket bought after the list downloaded, is refused: "Not on tonight's offline list." Ask the guest to wait until you're back online.

Find a guest by name

For a guest who can't show a code:

  1. Tap Sync, then Find a guest.
  2. Type at least two letters of the name on the order or pass.
  3. Check who they are, for example with their ID.
  4. Tap Check in for a ticket, or Admit for a pass. If a pass works at more than one event tonight, pick the event.

This works online too.

If VenueStack opens with no connection

If the app was closed and you open it with no connection, it opens as a simple door scanner marked Offline, with the camera, Find a guest, and how many check-ins are waiting. Scan and check guests in as usual. The full app comes back once you're online.

If the phone never downloaded tonight's list, it shows You're offline instead.

Two doors, one ticket

Two phones that are both offline can each let in the same ticket. Once they sync, the later one shows Checked in twice under Notes from sync, with the time of the first scan. There is nothing to do.

Needs a connection

  • Admit anyway for a pass past its limit.
  • Mark as Scanned on the Tickets page.
  • Tickets and passes bought or changed after the list downloaded.
