Who pays fees, and tax

Updated

Every paid order carries two fees: the card processing fee and VenueStack's Platform Fees. You choose who pays each one, and you set the tax rate added to what guests buy. Your exact fee rates are shown on Settings → Payments.

Choose who pays

  1. Go to Settings → Payments.
  2. Under the processing fee, pick Business Pays or Customer Pays.
  3. Under Platform Fees, pick Business Pays or Customer Pays.

Each change applies to new orders only. It covers tickets, table bookings, and deposits.

  • Business Pays: the guest pays the listed price plus tax. The fee comes out of what you receive.
  • Customer Pays: the fee is added at checkout as Processing Fee. You receive the price plus tax.

Use the Fee Calculator on the same card to see what the guest pays and what you receive for any price.

Set your tax rate

  1. On Settings → Payments, find Tax Rate.
  2. Enter a percentage.
  3. Click Update.

Tax is added on top of your prices, so enter ticket and add-on prices without tax. Tax is worked out after any promo code discount and is never charged on fees. To stop charging tax on table deposits, turn on Exempt from Tax under Table Reservations.

Good to know

  • Fees are not refunded. The most you can refund on an order is its total minus the fees.
  • Free orders carry no fees and no tax.
  • You are responsible for choosing the right tax rate for your area.
